The year is 1991. Jackie Johnson is entering her senior year of high school in Douglas, Wyoming. She is a mystical creature way beyond her years, a free spirit in a dying small Western town where the wind blows all the time.

In 1991, she meets Mike at their summer rodeo. Mike is a thirty-nine-year-old champion bull rider coming to the end of his rodeo career, but Jackie's fascination for this cowboy now turns to love.

Jackie's mom, Maggie, and her father, Johnny, see this change coming long before Jackie has a clue. Mike tries in many ways to escape Jackie's advances, but in room 412 of the old Douglas Hotel, where Mike always stays, Mike finally surrenders to Jackie's lust and beauty. The year was 1993.
