Voyage of the Beagle

In this work, Charles Darwin chronicles one of the most pivotal journeys in the history of science, his ship voyage starting in 1831 which would culminate in his paradigm-shifting work on evolution. In his notes, we gain insight into his work but also Darwin as a person and the sharpness of his mind as he discusses everything from geology to civil war in Argentina.
